Member Spotlight : Annabel Giraud-Telme
It is important to us to build a community with our coworkers; we know them, they know each other, now we’re going to give you an insight on their businesses and themselves! This weeks Member Spotlight features Annabel Giraud-Telme, who’s business operates within apparel and fashion.
What made you decide to start up your own business?
I got immensely frustrated with the fashion industry- specifically within the luxury sector. Luxury is at the top of the food chain and therefore should be setting the responsibility bar high. Fashion effects the environment, people and the world. If the people at the top of the industry don’t set the right example, can you imagine how bad it is at the bottom?
What are your plans for the business this year?
To sell out on our first ready-to-wear capsule collection and run our first social enterprise workshops.
What is the single most important thing that sets your business apart from the competition?
We are a socially responsible fashion house that use traditional tailoring and couture techniques, artisan materials with luxury design. As a social enterprise, we care as much about the environment, working conditions and our local communities as we do the fit of the garment.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Yoga, long catch up walks in the countryside and absorbing other cultures through travel and food!
What do you love most about having your own business?
Seeing happy customers! Knowing that I’m developing a social enterprise that will add value to the world we live in.
What’s the worst part about your job?
Not being able to switch off!
What would be your plan B?
Oooh that’s a good question! Maybe a lifestyle writer so that I’d get to travel and eat lots of delicious food or be a yoga instructor.
What was your first impression of Desk?
Finally, a fun modern working space in Swindon!
What do prefer about Desk in comparison to other commercial office spaces?
It’s modern, relaxed and fluid: unlike typical office spaces, it constantly changes! You never know what furniture will have changed or who will be in when you walk in. No two days are the same!
What do you enjoy about coworking?
I’ve met so many new people across a variety of industries that I would never have normally had access to. It all adds to being a more rounded person and business!
Any extra comments?
Well done to Matt for having an idea, testing it out and making Desk the community it is today. It’s wonderful to see and be a part of it from idea to fully fledged business!
